In the Primary Section: A Joyous Start and Engaged Growth
We resumed on 6th January 2025 with a sense of excitement, especially as we
introduced Grade 9 to our primary section for the very first time. Our learners
returned eager to explore what this new stage of the Competency-Based Curriculum
(CBC) would offer, and their enthusiasm filled our classrooms and hallways.
Embracing the CBC Journey Together
Teachers, parents, and learners alike have been open-hearted and ready to adapt.
We have witnessed deep collaboration between staff as they reoriented themselves to
the evolving curriculum, applying fresh approaches to enhance student engagement
and understanding. Our parents have also stepped in to walk with us — from ECDE
through Grade 9, we’ve seen more parent participation and curiosity about how
they can support this CBC transition.
Hands-On Learning and Holistic Activities
Our learners have truly embraced the CBC experience. Their talents and
confidence blossomed in a variety of ways:
They competed actively in both zonal and regional athletics, showing
discipline and sportsmanship on the track and field.
During our Art Day with Verda Group, creativity came alive through drawing,
modelling, and painting.
All class-based projects were tackled with focus and teamwork.
Clubs and societies thrived, with the Journalism and Scouts Clubs standing
out as the most active and engaging this term.
We also had a restful half-term break from 21st February to 3rd March, which
offered our learners time to refresh before returning to learning re-energized.
As the term ends, we have taken time to prepare our students psychologically
and emotionally for the upcoming term, set to resume on 28th April 2025. We’re
proud of how far they’ve come — and even more excited for what lies ahead.
In the Secondary Section: Focused, Lean, and Determined
Just like our primary section, our secondary school reopened smoothly on 6th
January 2025. A notable shift this term was the absence of a Form 1 class, a
change brought about by the transition from the 8-4-4 system to the CBC. While it
was a change, it offered us a unique opportunity to give more attention and depth to
the students already within the school.
Motivation and Milestones
We were especially encouraged by the best results ever posted by our candidate
class since the school's establishment — a clear sign that our efforts are bearing
fruit. Our students returned with a renewed determination to do even better, and our
teachers were more energized than ever.
With fewer class levels to handle, our educators were able to dedicate more time
and focus to students, and the impact was immediate. We also welcomed new staff
members in Agriculture and Biology, a move that has strengthened our Science
department and added more depth to our teaching.
Community and Creativity
This term, we saw greater collaboration between teachers and parents. Together, we
explored creative strategies to boost student performance, and the synergy has
been powerful.
We enjoyed a peaceful half-term break from 21st February to 3rd March, after
which we picked up the momentum right where we left off. As we now head into the
holidays, we’ve taken time to help our learners mentally and emotionally prepare
for Term 2, beginning on 28th April 2025.
Looking Ahead With Confidence
We can confidently say that Term 1, 2025 was not just smooth — it was fruitful. We
stepped into the year with goals and hopes, and now we take a break knowing we
have made meaningful progress in every corner of our school.
From new milestones in curriculum implementation, to arts, athletics, and academic
growth — we did this together. And we are only getting started.
As we go into the holidays, we remain united in purpose, encouraged by our
progress, and committed to nurturing every learner entrusted to us. We look forward
to welcoming everyone back for Term 2 on 28th April, ready to grow, serve, and
shine — the Rush Academy way.
As we wrap up Term 1 of 2025, we take a moment to reflect with joy and gratitude. It has been a successful, vibrant term at Rush Academy Primary and Secondary Schools.
