Tailoring

With the dream of fostering a self-sufficient community, RUSH Kenya initiated the tailoring college to provide opportunities for young people without a source of income or academic qualifications. The college offers training in tailoring skills, allowing students to register for national examinations after months of dedicated learning. Remarkably, the current teachers, Peter and Beatrice, were among the pioneer students of the program.

Rush UK supports the tailoring college program by providing financial aid and purchasing sewing machines and accessories for successful graduates. The program offers young people the opportunity to learn tailoring skills, empowering them with a pathway to financial independence. During the graduation ceremony, each graduate is presented with a brand new sewing machine, marking the beginning of their career journey in the tailoring industry. Over 200 individuals, mostly women, have become successful tailors, owning their own tailor shops and contributing to the economic growth of their communities.
