Nichola & Hannah Take on the AJ Bell South Run Portsmouth for RUSH UK

RUSH UK is honoured to have two incredible runners, Nichola Ward and Hannah Oakes, representing us in this year’s AJ Bell South Run Portsmouth — a 10-mile flat road race winding through the historic sights of Portsmouth on Sunday, 19th October.

Nichola and Hannah are running to raise vital funds for RUSH Academy in Kakamega, Kenya — supporting food for pupils, teachers’ salaries, and urgent roof repairs that are essential to keeping education accessible for hundreds of children.

Some RUSH History..

RUSH (Reaching the Unreached through Self Help) was born from the vision of two Kenyan orphans, Andrew and Lucy, who grew up in the Kibera slum and dreamed of helping widows and orphans build a better future.

Today, RUSH UK and RUSH Kenya continue that mission — to empower the unreached, unlock potential, and equip communities to improve their living standards.

At the heart of this mission is education. The RUSH Academy Schools in Kenya are a beacon of hope, providing quality education that helps children break free from poverty and pursue a brighter future. Every meal, every book, every salary and every brick is funded through donations, sponsorships, and the generosity of supporters like you.

And the impact is real — just last year, almost the entire graduating class of 30 students earned unconditional university placements, a remarkable milestone that highlights what your support makes possible.

Join the Journey

Nichola and Hannah have trained tirelessly for this 10-mile challenge. Now, they’re inviting you to join them — by making a donation that will directly support the children and teachers of RUSH Academy.

If you’re able, please Gift Aid your donation to help raise even more funds at no extra cost.

Together, we can continue building futures filled with hope and opportunity.

A heartfelt thank you to Nichola, Hannah, and every supporter who helps keep this vision alive.
